Watch our YouTube video on how to set up a chameleon cage for your baby here.
As long as the panther chameleon egg is white and is not moldy it will hatch. Panther chameleons can hatch anywhere between 6 months and a year.
Constantly moving the panther chameleon egg to look at it can harm the baby and cause the egg not to hatch. It is best to place the egg in an appropriate location so that you can easily see inside the incubator without having to move it around.
The panther chameleon egg should not be turned. Baby panther chameleons attach to the upper part of the egg and should be kept in the proper orientation. Your egg will have a mark on the shell to mark the top side of the egg.
The panther chameleon egg can't be candled, attempting to candle the egg will just increase the chance of hurting the baby inside and possibly killing it. Never candle the panther chameleon egg.
The container the panther chameleon egg comes in is designed to be the only thing you need to hatch the egg. Keep to the rest of the rules and the egg will hatch.
We can help you properly care for your panther chameleon egg to make sure you have a successful hatch. If you get worried about anything, please reach out to us so we can help. Email me directly at david@davesreptiles.com.
The mark on the egg is to show the top side of the egg, the mark must always be up because that is where the baby chameleon is attached. Moving the egg increases the chances of dislodging the baby chameleon.
The container your egg comes in is all you need to hatch your panther chameleon egg, do not use an egg incubator. Keep the egg in a location that stays between 70 and 80 degrees, won't allow accidental bumps, and will let you easily see inside the incubator without moving it.
After adding the appropriate amount of water to the panther chameleon egg incubator, you only need to visually look at the media and the incubator to ensure there is still moisture. Keeping the egg incubator in a location that lets you view it without touching the incubator is best. If there is no more water in the incubator contact us before adding any more.
The panther chameleon egg can be kept in a dark location as light is not required for the egg to hatch. Keeping the egg on a shelf that is eye level or a bit lower is perfect. Keep the room temp between 70 and 80, 75 to 76 degrees is best. It is okay for the temperature to drop between 5 and 10 degrees during the night and is expected. The natural location for panther chameleons will be hot during the day and cool off during the night.
Your panther chameleon egg will hatch in 6 to 12 months, as long as the egg is white and not moldy it will hatch. The temperature the egg is in and the time of the year will vary the hatching period so you must be prepared for the baby chameleon starting on month six.
